✦ Our Story

The Taste of Two Lands
One Heart

From the bustling streets of Colombo to the seaside charm of Great Yarmouth — The Hoppers by Diro was born from one man’s love towards food.

Diro isn’t a chef by training. He’s a foodie at heart — the kind of person who detours miles for an unexpected smell of curry leaves, who believes a perfect bite can change your day, and who collects recipes like others collect souvenirs.

Traveling across Sri Lanka and India, Diro discovered more than dishes. He discovered stories. The crisp crackle of a hopper being made at dawn. The rhythmic chop-chop-chop of kottu on a hot flat grill. The joy of breaking bread — or rice — with strangers who became friends.

Everywhere he went, one thing was clear: great food brings people together.

When Diro settled in Great Yarmouth, he noticed something was missing. Not just spices — but soul. The kind of meal that wraps around you like a warm memory.

So he started small. Testing the Sri Lankan inspired hoppers recipe. Perfecting the balance of biriyani spices. Learning the art of a proper thali.

The Hoppers by Diro is more than a restaurant. It’s his love letter to the streets of Colombo, Chennai, Kerala, and Sri Lanka.

Today, we serve:
· Spicy kottu
· Vibrant thalis
· Rice & curry
· Fragrant biriyani
· Golden, bowl-shaped hoppers
